CANDLE CARE 101. VESSEL CANDLES

Candles bring warmth, ambiance, and delightful scents to our homes. To ensure you get the most out of your candles, it's important to follow some simple candle care tips. Here's how to keep your candle burning perfectly: The First Burn:

  • The Importance of the Initial Burn: The first time you light your candle, allow it to burn until the entire surface melts. This prevents tunneling, where the wax melts only around the wick, leaving a ring of unmelted wax.

  • Time Commitment: Depending on the candle's size, this may take a few hours. Be patient, as this initial investment sets the stage for future burns.

Trim Your Wick:

  • Wick Length Matters: Before each burn, trim the wick to about ¼ inch. This helps prevent a large flame, soot, and uneven burning.

  • Tools of the Trade: Use a wick trimmer or sharp scissors for a clean cut.

Burn Time:

  • Avoid Short Burns: Don't extinguish your candle too soon. Each time you light it, allow it to burn for at least an hour, or until the wax pool reaches the edge of the container. This helps maintain an even burn and prevents tunneling.

  • Safety First: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it away from flammable objects, children, and pets.

Candle Placement:

  • Draft-Free Zone: Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, vents, and fans. Drafts can cause uneven burning, flickering, and soot.

  • Temperature Control: Avoid placing your candle in direct sunlight or near heat sources, as this can cause the wax to melt unevenly or discolor.

Extinguishing Your Candle:

  • Snuff It Out: Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. This helps prevent hot wax from splattering and reduces smoke.

  • No Blowing: Avoid blowing out your candle, as this can scatter the wick and create soot.

Additional Tips:

  • Center Your Wick: After extinguishing your candle, gently re-center the wick while the wax is still soft. This ensures an even burn next time.

  • Clean Your Candle: Keep your candle free of dust and debris by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.

  • Storage: When not in use, store your candles in a cool, dark place to preserve their scent and color.

By following these simple candle care tips, you can enjoy the warm glow and delightful fragrance of your candles for longer. Remember, a well-maintained candle not only enhances your space but also provides a safer and more enjoyable experience.
